Hi, I am a professional artist and qualified art tutor.
My portfolio includes portraiture, pets and equestrian, wildlife, still-life and landscape subjects.
You can commission your own original work or visit my online shop to purchase quality prints, cards and accessories with complete confidence using Paypal.
If you are looking for tuition, I run weekly art classes in lovely local venues, monthly weekend workshops in my home studio, or you might like to try my online video tuition.
The portrait of Enzo is just so like him. Julie has captured his expression and how he lounges on the bed perfectly’. Mr J. Dolman
I’d have to say I’ve been painting almost all my life, as I didn’t stop when I left school. There were many years when I’d only do the odd sketch or painting as ‘real life’ took over, but I always wanted more.
Once I’d made the decision to try to realise my childhood ambitions I gave myself up to it as completely as real life would allow. It’s taken a long time, but now I make art part of my daily life. Even though it’s now ‘the job’, I still get a big kick out of drawing and painting. There’s nothing better that looking at what you’ve achieved and see it looking back at you. Knowing exhibition sales help with animal conservation is another bonus, but it’s equally exciting to get a pet portrait commission from someone, as it is to sell something in exhibition.
A lot of my time is spent teaching art, mostly to retired people. I believe art plays a very important role in keeping people healthy. As a teaching Artist, I want to share my life-times experience of art with other people so they can enjoy it too. My workshops and classes are growing in popularity and it’s very satisfying, knowing people are choosing to learn from me.
I’d toyed with the idea of teaching art for many years, but it wasn’t until after my dad died that I decided to give it a go. I was just starting to get regular work as an illustrator when he needed round the clock care. So, I stopped doing all my art stuff - and everything else - to help mum look after him. Afterwards, I didn’t want to go back into illustration, the time felt right to study for a PGCE.
Since then I’ve had a book published, I do demonstrations, run weekly classes, weekend workshops and I’ve just started to produce tuition videos too’. Julie
‘Julie gets you to do things you’d never do on your own, giving you the confidence to try, and the classes are brilliant’
‘I was a bit scared to open the gift at first, as it was a very emotional experience saying good-by to our dog. In the end, I had tears of joy at seeing my beloved Jasper again’
